Terry has been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a specialist in insurance coverage law. Prior to joining the ABA insurance program, Terry practiced law with several law firms in Cleveland, Ohio. He concentrated on commercial litigation and insurance matters. Terry has a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Kenyon College and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Terry is married and has two children. He enjoys reading, writing, golf, and coaching CYO youth basketball. He has written several plays which have been produced on stage. He has also written several novels.
||Senior Legal Assistant
Mary joined ABA Insurance Services directly from Progressive when Progressive’s Professional Liability Group split off in April 2010. Prior to joining Progressive in 2000, Mary was a legal assistant at Mazanec, Raskin & Ryder, Co., L.P.A. for 5 years and at Reno, Bogden & Ferber Co., L.P.A. in Sandusky, Ohio for 9 years.
Mary loves spending time in the Cleveland Metroparks either walking one of the many golf courses, hiking, or taking nature photos. She also enjoys visiting the Great Blue Herons at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. She loves spending time on or near Lake Erie and especially her time spent on Kelleys Island, Ohio. Mary was not born on “The Rock” but her mother and many generations before were born and raised on Kelleys Island, Ohio.
|Adam D. Cornett
Prior to joining ABA Insurance Services in October 2011, Adam was an associate at Taft Stettinius & Hollister where he focused his practice on business litigation, debtor/creditor rights issues, and bankruptcy matters. Adam received his undergraduate degree from the College of Wooster and law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, graduating magna cum laude. While in law school, Adam served as an executive editor for the Cleveland State Law Review and received the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Health Law.
In his free time, which is at a premium these days, Adam enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter. Adam is also a sports enthusiast who enjoys watching Cleveland’s professional sports teams and playing soccer as often as he can. Before attending law school, Adam played for the Cleveland Crunch professional indoor soccer team from 1998-2001 and was a member of the team during the 1998-1999 season when the Crunch won the National Professional Soccer League championship.
|John L. Cullen
John was a part of the Professional Liability Group before it split from Progressive and became ABA Insurance Services in April 2010. Before Progressive, John had a long and diverse career as a trial attorney representing defendants in professional liability cases at Jacobson, Maynard & Tuschman Co., L.P.A., Mazanec, Raskin & Ryder, Co., L.P.A. and then at a firm that he founded. He tried many jury cases to verdict and argued cases on appeal. He has extensive experience representing parties in consumer class action litigation as well as in employment litigation, including cases alleging wrongful termination, discrimination, and class action litigation regarding wage and hour disputes. He is rated AV® Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell. John received his B.A. from Bradford College and J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
John is married and the father of two girls.
||Senior Claims Specialist
Gigi joined ABA Insurance Services directly from Progressive when Progressive’s Professional Liability Group split off in April 2010. Before joining the claims group, Gigi worked in the small businesses group as an underwriting assistant for the EPL product. Prior to joining Progressive, Gigi worked as a paralegal/legal assistant at Mansour, Gavin, Gerlack & Manos Co., LPA for 20 years. She currently holds the position of Senior Claims Specialist and handles claims for the Bank and EPL products.
Married and the mother of 3 daughters, Gigi enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She is also a huge Cleveland Browns fan!
|Deborah C. Duvin
||Senior Attorney and Compliance Manager
Debbie is a Senior Attorney and Compliance Manager. She began working for Progressive in 1998 handling professional liability claims. Prior to 1998, Debbie worked as an attorney in private practice with the law firm of Kohrman Jackson & Krantz in the litigation department. Debbie received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison University and Juris Doctor from George Washington National Law Center. Debbie is a past president of the Fidelity Law Association, has published articles for the Fidelity Law Journal and is an active member of the Inns of Court.
Debbie is the mother of two children, Alex and Trey. When not playing tennis or working out, Debbie can be found with her husband Marc at their daughter’s horse shows in Ohio, Kentucky and wherever the shows take them. Thanks to Trey who is grown up and lives in NYC, Debbie became an early pioneer of social media parenting. Debbie serves as a director on the board of two local non-profit organizations and is active in several local charitable organizations.
|Otto E. Elkins, Jr.
Otto joined ABA Insurance Services directly from Progressive when Progressive’s Professional Liability Group split off in April 2010. Before joining Progressive in 2004, Otto graduated summa cum laude from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2001. He practiced law as an associate at the Cleveland offices of Ulmer & Berne, LLP. At Ulmer, Otto was a member of the Health Care, Business, and Litigation practice groups. He advised physicians and health care institutions regarding regulatory matters; he represented and advised corporate entities regarding formation and dissolution; he designed strategies to minimize tax realization; and he represented clients in all aspects of litigation. Otto handles D&O and Bond claims with a special focus on claims involving electronic/computer systems issues.
Otto has a variety of interests and pursuits. He is an avid traveler. Otto has visited every continent, except Antarctica, and he plans to take a trip to there in the relatively near future. During summers, Otto gets on the Cuyahoga River and rows on an eight man crew in the Western Reserve Rowing Association’s Summer Rowing League. He and his team medaled in the 2014 summer regatta. Otto sings bass in the Blossom Festival Chorus – a choir that performs with the Cleveland Orchestra. Otto also sits on the board of a national charitable organization.
|Ann I. Gardiner
||Bond Claims Manager
Ann has been managing bond claims for the bank program since its days as the Professional Liability Group of Progressive Insurance. Before joining Progressive, Ann practiced law as a bankruptcy and commercial law associate with the Cleveland law firm of Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP. Ann graduated with honors from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, earning a bachelor's degree in accounting. She graduated with honors from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Ann is a member of the American Bar Association TIPS Fidelity and Surety Law Committee and is a frequent speaker on fidelity claims related topics.
Outside of the office, Ann stays busy trying to keep up with her very young and active son. Ann’s husband plays multiple sports – golf, tennis, paddle tennis, squash – and Ann does her best to keep up with him too. She plays tennis and golf – she still hasn’t broken 100 but has come close on several occasions. Ann and her family enjoy working on projects at home and traveling a few times a year.
|Jennifer H. Gorman
Jennifer joined ABA Insurance Services in July 2010 after serving as in-house counsel for a privately held Cleveland-based manufacturing company for 12 years. She was also a founding principal of Warren & Hays LLC, a consulting firm devoted to helping employers with HR and employment law issues. Prior to serving as in-house counsel, Jennifer was a business and employment litigator for the Cleveland firm of Ulmer & Berne LLP. Jennifer has experience advising companies in a wide range of employment and business related disputes. She graduated from Miami University with a degree in political science and received her JD with honors from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
In her “off time” Jennifer enjoys her 3 children, yoga, cooking, skiing, reading and socializing with friends and family. Her two daughters are in college. One attends Jennifer’s alma mater, Miami University. The other daughter escaped the Cleveland winters by going to school in Arizona. Jennifer is happy to still have her son at home. He plays high school hockey so Jennifer spends a lot of time in ice rinks during the winter months. Between hockey games, Jennifer and her family like to ski. Come summer, she is happy to have everyone home. In addition to family and her interests, Jennifer is active in several charitable organizations.
|Peter G. Hilbert
Prior to joining ABA Insurance Services in 2011, Pete was a litigation associate at Jones Day focusing on financial institution litigation, complex commercial litigation and regulatory matters. He has extensive experience representing financial institutions in internal investigations and civil disputes involving fraud, fiduciary liability, and shareholder claims. From 2006 to 2008, Pete clerked for a federal district court judge in the Northern District of Ohio. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1999 from Syracuse University and his law degree in 2003 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Pete is married to his college sweetheart and the proud father of two beautiful girls. He is a lifelong Clevelander and, much to his dismay, an avid Browns fan. He enjoys starting home improvement projects of any degree of difficulty with or without the necessary tools, materials, or time to finish them.
||Senior Claims Specialist
Kevin joined ABA Insurance Services directly from Progressive when the Professional Liability Group split off in April 2010. Before joining Progressive in 1999, Kevin was a senior Paralegal for 10 years at the Cleveland law firm of Porter, Wright, Morris and Arthur, practicing in the areas of Litigation, Banking, and Intellectual Property.
Kevin is married with two children. His daughter and son are both in college. Weather permitting, in his spare time, Kevin and his family enjoy boating and fishing. As he owns a house built in 1928, it somehow seems to occupy a great deal of his other spare time.
||HR Manager/Employment Practices Liability Claims Manager
Laura has been with the program since it split from Progressive Insurance, becoming ABA Insurance Services in April 2010. Laura joined Progressive in 1992 after receiving her law degree cum laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. She received her bachelor's degree in English and political science from Wittenberg University. Laura deals primarily with employment-related claims and was involved in the development of Progressive's Employment Practices Liability Insurance Policy. She is a frequent speaker on employment-related topics.
Married and mother to two great kids, Laura is also an adventurous traveler and recently white-water rafted in the Grand Canyon and zip-lined in Costa Rica. She is a tennis enthusiast and avid reader.
||General Counsel and Director of Claims
Eric joined ABA Insurance Services directly from Progressive when the Professional Liability Group (PLG) split off in April 2010. At Progressive, Eric joined PLG as the Division’s Director of Legal in 2008 after practicing in both the Litigation and SEC/Corporate Transactions practice groups in Progressive’s Corporate Law Department. Before joining Progressive, he was an associate at Baker Hostetler LLP, where his practice focused on complex commercial and intellectual property litigation. Eric earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame and received his bachelor's degree from John Carroll University.
In his spare time, Eric enjoys spending time with his family and starting home remodeling projects that often have to be completed by competent contractors. Eric and his wife have three beautiful children, ranging from toddler to teenager, that fill the refrigerator calendar with various athletic and school events and activities. When the Steiners are not at one of the kids’ activities, they can often be found playing board games while watching the Browns, Indians, Cavs or Notre Dame compete and, occasionally, win.
